Metalflake restroom

Last weekend while visiting the local movie theatre, we stumbled upon this amazing metalflake floor in the restrooms. The crappy phonepic doesn't do the sparkle any justice, but it is highly frowned upon entering a restroom carrying a loaded camera... who does such a thing anyway?! Luckily the room was empty so no privacy had to be violated photographing the awesomeness.

Like a perfect marriage, two lovely things combined into one; thanks to Paul Van Doren and 'Saint' John Morton ! (yeah go on, try google that one !).

When Bernhard Prinz zur Lippe-Biesterfeld (1911-2004) first came to officially meet his mother in law Queen Wilhelmina in 1936, he and Princess Juliana drove up to the palace in his beige '35 Ford V8 roadster. While it is now regarded as a very stylish vehicle, the people then didn't see it fit for a prince and mockingly called it just a little Ford. The newly engaged royal couple then toured the Netherlands in that Ford. Not everyone was amused because Bernhard quickly became infamous for his wild and reckless driving and soon got told by the Queen that he wasn't allowed to go any faster than 70 km/h when the Princess was in the car with him.
Late 1936 he got himself a new '37 Ford roadster with a souped up flathead V8. His driving hadn't improved much; he crashed into a truck at high speed and nearly lost his life. He kept the steering wheel in his study as a memento...

Old picture, as projects move on. Even the workshop itself is subject to continuous improvement. Yesterday we started setting up a new permanent paint booth. When it's finished we'll pick up the flake and the paintgun again and do some speedway bike parts, chopper tanks and air tanks we've got laying around. Of course, we're going to show them up here on the blog when they are done so keep your eyes peeled. We've got a lot coming up!

...can be cool! We always benchrace about having a big fat tattooed pig riding shotgun with us in a hotrod and squealing at other people and giving them the evil eye. Some day...

R.I.P. John van Geytenbeek

Today we heard that John van Geytenbeek died during his dragrace run in Drachten. We left before the accident happened. Our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

Good time at Drachten Finals dragrace. its was finals today and beside some rain there where good runs. Danny Bellio (Top Methanol Funny Car) did a nice run for 1/8 mile 290km/h 3.94 second run so the track was doing good for the cars.

Just a small job from being back on the road, the toptattoodesignarea' Tradesman van is the start of something great. It's Van Craze revisited! Though vans never left the 'scene' in the Netherlands, 99.9% of 'em suck ass big time. So either dust off your old custom van or create a new one 'cause it's history repeating.
After that, it's going to be t-buckets all over again. And trikes. Yeah, mark my words...

vintage metalflake helmets for sale

Our collection is getting a bit out of hand, so now for sale are these four vintage metalflake helmets:
The blue and gold ones are size M, New Old Stock, new in box, seventies metalflake helmets.
The gold one has the best liner, the others have deteriorated liners. They go for €85 for the blue ones and €100 for the gold one.
The red one is a used helmet, size L, €75.
